For the past four years Goldman Sachs has partnered with various local arts organizations and grade school students to create artwork that is replicated on large vinyl mesh banners and installed outside of the firm’s Jersey City office.
This year the firm partnered with the Jersey City Museum for the 2008 Student Art Project, which explores the theme "Our Emerging World" and focuses on artistic interpretation of globalization, and the culture and language of the people in emerging market countries including Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRICs). Students, ages 6 to 13, attended writing and art workshops encouraging them to think about themselves not as citizens of one country, but as citizens in a changing world. As part of the workshops, the students were given a tour of the Jersey City Museum and Duda Penteado’s exhibit, Beauty for Ashes Project, which explores global culture in the wake of 9/11.
Past themes have included "Responsible for My World," which addressed environmental responsibility and "Drawing the Line," which explored the concept of respect. Please visit the art gallery below to view all of the exhibits.
